Biography
Wendy Hanna is an emerging multidisciplinary artist who adopts a diaristic approach in exploring themes of loss, grief, and false memory. Her practice runs the gamut from sculpture and painting to digital media and printmaking, often calling upon personal experiences with CPTSD and PTSD. Her current area of research is focused on traditional and non-traditional healing and coping methods which navigate the blurred line between distorted recollection and reality.
Hanna is the recipient of several awards, including the Creative Arts Certificate from Algonquin College in 2021, the Portfolio Certificate from the Ottawa School of Art in 2022, completed a comprehensive ceramics workshop at St. Lawrence College 2022, and received the Ottawa School of Art Fine Arts Diploma in 2024. During her studies, she was the recipient of the Stuart Cranston Award in 2021, the Dr. Eva B Furesz Memorial Scholarship in 2022, and the Corrie Gibson Memorial Studio Scholarship 2024. She is currently working on both solo and group exhibitions being shown at the Ottawa School of Art in summer 2024.
